Bridging The Gap (BTG) was founded by Robert Byrd in 1992. During its tenure, BTG
was a successful self-supporting choice school that set a great academic foundation for
the many students that passed through its doors.
At the close of the 2006 school year, Robert decided to discontinue running BTG as a
K-5 school to take his vision in a new direction. His goal is to focus on investing in
Milwaukee's at-risk youths through education and mentoring.
Future plans at the Coach Hank Raymonds Educational Center include such programs as
job training for the family members of students, as well as at-large community members to
help create sound family units to foster strong neighborhoods.
Bridging The Gap has always set high educational standards for its students and is intent
on continuing that commitment through the Coach Hank Raymonds Educational Center.
