Bridging The Gap will be one of the first of its kind to use recreation as a vehicle for
education.  Through the institution of a basketball program and related sporting
activities, the coaches, instructors and counselors can teach and communicate important
hard and soft skills that each child will benefit from throughout their personal and
professional lives.

In addition to learning “truly” fundamental basketball skills, which is often overlooked
today by other recreational and amateur sports programs, the kids will also be orientated
in related life skills such as: health and fitness; preparation for collegiate academics; and
personal finance.

This will be in addition to a general study of proper behavior, appearance, and attitude
along with other character traits that need to be fully exercised at certain times for the
participants to be competitive such as in a job interview.

And like with any sports-related program, teamwork and discipline will be among the key
focus areas.
